Swedish electric automaker Polestar has unveiled its latest concept, the O2 Convertible, and we are sincerely unable to get enough of the aesthetics.
Currently, there’s hardly any convertible EV on the market today, let alone one with a retractable hardtop roof, and this is largely due to the inefficiency of traditional designs which leads to a much lower range. Polestar didn’t reveal any production intent for the O2 convertible concept, but the car does bear a lot of similarities to the Polestar 5 (Precept) which is due in 2024. Hence, it’s safe to be hopeful for a production version sometime around, or shortly after 2024.
The 2+2 roadster, in addition to its ultra-modern and minimalist styling, showcases a series of advanced developments in sustainability and performance technology with features like thermoplastic mono-materials, recycled polyester upholstery, an autonomous cinematography drone integrated into the vehicle. The drone can follow the Polestar O2 at speeds of up to 56 mph aided by an area of negative pressure generated from an airfoil behind the rear seats. The video captured by the drone can then be edited and shared from the car’s large infotainment screen.
As earlier suggested, Polestar is yet to disclose any release information on the O2, but we can hope for an arrival around the same time as the Polestar 5. Check out the awesome photos of the 02 below.
