Months after introducing the iX to the world for the first time, German automaker BMW has unveiled the performance variant of the electric SUV at the CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
The upcoming 2023 iX M60 SUV will be one of the first high-performance electric vehicles ever to be introduced by BMW, bearing similarities to the gas-powered X6M. The iX M60 features a dual-motor powertrain for a combined 610 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, and it is capable of achieving 0-60 mph in only 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph, but you’ll need to initiate launch control to experience that full force as the powertrain generates 532 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque in normal mode.
The battery capacity is a 111-kilowatt-hour unit that BMW estimates at 280 miles of range, though driving the vehicle in sports mode for extended periods would reduce the mile range. Charging to 80 percent takes just 40 minutes on 120kW fast charger while a regular 11W AC plug will take 10.5 hours to complete.
The iX M60 is not so different from the standard iX in terms of looks, sporting an aluminum frame, carbon fiber unibody, carbon fiber-reinforced accents, and kidney grilles inspiration taken from the new generation M3 and 4 series models. The M60 will however offer exclusive blue brake calipers, Titanium Bronze paintwork, blacked-out M badges, and optional 22-inch rims. Interior-wise, drivers will be able to choose from five interior color options accentuated by a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, panoramic “Sky Lounge” LED roof and a BMW Natural Interaction infotainment system.
The iX M60 starts at $106,095 USD and is expected to go on sale in the U.S. this June. Check out the video above as well as the photos below.
