Mercedes-Benz has officially taken the wraps off its latest addition to its EQ electric vehicle line – the 2023 EQS SUV.
The EQS SUV, as the name suggest, shares a lot of similarities with its sedan sibling, such as the exterior and interior aesthetics and features. The vehicle is based on the same EVA dedicated EV platform as the EQS sedan, which is also present in the EQE sedan which will be getting its own SUV variant as well.
The EQS SUV measures 7.8 inches higher than the sedan variant as expected, and at 202 inches in length, the SUV is slightly shorter than the EQS sedan but the two share a 126.4-inch wheelbase.
The luxury SUV also comes with familiar high-tech interior features like the 56-inch MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system, Dolby Atmos surround sound system, HEPA cabin-air filter, as well as its own unique scent for its fragrance dispenser called No. 6 MOOD mimosa. The EQS SUV can carry up to seven passengers and up to four sets of golf clubs, and it is surrounded by metallic-ringed round air vents, wood-paneled console and doors, as well as the option of synthetic or true leather upholstery.
The 2023 EQS SUV is scheduled to arrive later this year, in EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic models. The EQS 450+ model will be powered by a single motor at the rear, to produce 355 hp and 419 lb-ft of torque. The EQS 580 4Matic model on the other hand, will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that will churn out 536 hp and 633 lb-ft.
Both models will share the same charging capabilities of up to 200kW, filling up from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. At full charge, both configurations will provide a driving range of 372 miles.
